| -Press Release Self Service-Terminals via- ICA Traffic GmbH: trendsetting self service Terminals in Essen, Duisburg and Mülheim are going life ICA Traffic GmbH did delivery for the transportation companies of the “via Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH” (EVAG, DVG and MVG) self service terminals. The new self service terminals were commissioned at prominent locations like the Essen and Mülheim main station and the customer help desk in Duisburg by the end of June. At a first glance they look like the regular ticket vending machines. They feature all functionalities of regular modern ticket vending machines. They are operated by a well arranged 15” touch display and accept coins and banknotes as well as cashless means of payments. On top of that the “SB-Terminal” labeled machines offer a variety of useful features like an online journey planer, a payment function for fare dodging fines via a 2D barcode imager and eTicketing functionalities according to the VDV-KA standard. The journey planer allows displaying and printing schedules between any origin and destination station within Germany for a user selectable date and time. The integrated barcode imager is capable of reading all common 1D and 2D barcodes. This allows the collection of fee dodging fines anonymous and independent from the opening hours of the customer help desk. The patron simply has to place his fine, including the barcode in front of the imager. He then can pay the amount shown with all available means of payment receiving a receipt upon completion of the transaction. In Duisburg it is scheduled to offer an invoice payment functionality for partnering organization like the local utility provider. The transportation companies of the “via Verkehrsgesellschaft” belong to the Rhein-Ruhr transport association (VRR). They already issue electronic tickets according to the VDV-KA standard for their monthly patrons. The self service terminal is equipped with a smart card reader which is able to display detailed information of the selected ticket.
